A little bit about me

My artistic search started when I was very little: I started singing at the age of 11 in an Irish folk band,  At the age of 13 I began to take Musical Theater classes and at 16 I was part of Suburban Players in San Isidro, an amateur theater group from the English community where I met Ximena Faralla and Hugo Halbrich, two references of English-speaking theater in Argentina.

I was born into a multicultural family, where both English and Spanish were spoken thanks to our Anglo-Saxon roots. And when I was just 2 years old, we went to live in the United States. Therefore, all my memories are in both English and Spanish. When I was 8 years old, we returned to Buenos Aires, the city where I currently reside. The trade of teaching has had several generations in my family, and I gave my first private English class when I was 14 years old. I never stopped doing it since then.

When I finished high school, I had the clear intention of going back to the United States to do my university studies; I actually entered San Diego State University to study Performing Arts. But I did not get to start classes, I returned to Argentina a few months after arriving.

The common thread of everything I do has been the search to express, to transmit a message. Either as an artist, from the stage in a character or performing songs, or as an arts or language teacher, in front of my students. Yoga came into my life as a means of training my expressive body and recognizing its states, allowing me to learn more about my stage body. A scenic body is not presented in any way; exactly the opposite, it is presented in a hyper-specific way to express the message of that moment. To create that stage specificity, I got into the habit of physical training to keep my body strong and flexible. Yoga was the path I chose, and today after 11 years of practice I have my Instructor diploma under my arm. Dance, as a first cousin of theater and acting, has also been a great teacher for the training of the scenic body. Strengthening and plasticity also contribute to my growth as a singer: the voice is not independent from the body but rather a vibration that emanates from the depths, through it.

In this way of expression and transmission, my training as an Arts Teacher with an orientation in Theater in Scaffolding '90 has been central to complement the artistic task with intellectual curiosity, developing the ability to reflect on practice and, in turn, practice accordingly with what is reflected.

Every action we take to learn something new, no matter how subtle, gives us a small expansive gesture through which to connect with the environment. Everything we are, what we think, what we create has a direct and dynamic relationship with the world around us; consequently, every millimeter that we grow is also reflected in the environment and the system that surrounds us.

I wish all of us that growth be healthy, that it be beautiful, that it be art.
